Woodsong Reading

Greetings,
Hope your week's started off fine; we had a very wet weekend. I like the rain -- the gloomier the weather is, the better I like it!
Spent some time in Waco, Texas last week. I was very pleasantly surprised -- it was a very nice and attractive town. Waco has a lot of negative connotation -- probably becase of the David Koresh thing several years back. I was surprised at how attractive the town was -- they have a very nice riverfront area with lots of restaurants and such. There's even a walking suspension bridge over the river (the Bravos River) which at one time was the longest suspension bridge in the world. I think the fellow who eventually built the Brooklyn Bridge was involved in it.
I had a friend who had retired and moved to Waco. I remember thinking "Why would anyone move to Waco?" I take back those thoughts now -- Waco is a very liveable and likeable place. A university town (Baylor), close to both Austin and Dallas, very little traffic, and some nice variety in terrain with hills and lakes.
Oops -- I'm starting to sound like a spokesperson for the Waco Chamber of Commerce! Didn't mean to -- just wanted to pass along my find!
How about a quick word from my sponsors, then on to the reading!

We'll again pull two cards -- the first suggests something we should focus on for the week. The second suggests things we might consider in order to fully benefit from the attributes of the first card.
The cards are:
King of Cups
Eight of Pentacles
The King of Cups, like all Kings, suggests complete mastery of the suit's attributes. Cups represent emotional matters, so the King of Cups suggests being completely content and emotionally satisfied. Being comfortable within also suggests comfort without. Thus, this card also suggests tolerance and caring for others. It's able to see the good in others as well as being patient with their shortcomings.
The Eight of Cups is a "learning" card -- it suggests enjoying a task or project and growing from it. This Eight enjoys discovering and learning from all the different facets involved in a task.
While we might agree that the King is an admirable place to be -- to be emotionally content -- we might also agree that it's not always the easiest thing to achieve. The Eight may be able to help us here.
Have you ever known someone who seems to always be in a "bad" mood? No matter what you do or say, it's going to annoy them. The curious thing is that while there may be things that will irritate this person, there are also lots of things that could please them ... if they'd only take notice of them!
What I think we're seeing here is the statement that if we want to be content and satisfied, we're going to have to be receptive to those things that will satisfy us. Rather than focus on things that irritate us (and we're bound to find many of those!), look for those things that please us. The Eight of Pentacles enjoys discovering all sides of an issue rather than focusing on one side. We can use this to acknowledge the things that are "right" in our lives. In doing so, we'll likely find that the plus side is much more enjoyable and satisfying than any minus side.
And that's about it this time! I hope things go well for you through the weekend and look forward to talking to you again next week. I am going to see a counselor today (today being Wednesday 11th May for me). I kind of figured that fits in well with the reading you sent us.
I also thought that things were quite bad, but looking back can see that they are not as bad as they seem. This is relating to work, matter-of-fact the result may even be better than where I was. That is what you get working for a company which has places set up all over the state, you can work in the metropolitan area in any suburb, or work in the country. The country holds no appea; to me at the moment. I used to work at a place for 3 months, now doubt whether I will be staying there, I used to dread the thought of working else where but now I don't really mind. Someone had put me in such a way that I actually don't want to go back there now, go figure.
